Things of God Spoken Word Poetry

Things of God by Emily Ulman

Things of God, What Scripture Reveals Our Spirit Experiences During Our Dying shares the results of much time spent in God’s Word. I’m now on a quest that, though I would never have chosen it, I can’t not continue. My quest is to get this book into the hands so many struggling with their end of life coming sooner than expected, and those struggling with loss. I find it a comfort and a powerful tool; one I think Christ has big plans to use to impact His Kingdom for His glory.

On my flat with broken off edges, modest piece of stability

I sprawl on hands and knees; the wide waters violent and swift

I am on them, and in their unpredictability I ride

The only predictable, they lead to the brink.

The edge of myself is ahead, I know it and brace for it as I swiftly ride on

God has me here in this place, along the way at this time, for His reasons

And the edge, looming large, is here and the threatening falls are next

He realizes me that in actuality, the falls rise

He rotates the view and I see that once I splash over the edge

They rise and will rise me

Up and up my stability and I will fall

Until we reach the waters calm

And soon the still and massive pool they lead on to;

And all points along the way have been planned

And each connection I make, He prepared

Until my personal character has reached the place He reveals

Come up higher, He invites; He brings the greater viewpoint

Keep in the light of it, always be at work in it, He cautions

And the vehemency, it no longer frightens

For my firm foundation is Christ, my Stability; it is He to which I cling
