Things of God, What Scripture Reveals Our Spirit Experiences During Our Dying shares the results of much time spent in God’s Word. I’m now on a quest that, though I would never have chosen it, I can’t not continue. My quest is to get this book into the hands so many struggling with their end of life coming sooner than expected, and those struggling with loss. I find it a comfort and a powerful tool; one I think Christ has big plans to use to impact His Kingdom for His glory.
“He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him, and honor him.” Psalm 91:15
Why do we in complacency
Contentedly, seek our refuge
In the solitude, the deluge
Of our inner pain most personal
In torment with torrential potential
We find our obligation
To our deepest affliction
But this harbor, it is unsafe
To this protection deception
Why do we so often opt in
To cling to this thing
This strife for dear life
Our soul’s deepest injury
Of intense immensity
A severest-most agony
This trauma to us
In a kind of dedication of loyal devotion
As evidence of our grievance unforgotten
We continue our resignation
In desolate destruction to suffer;
When there’s Another, a better
Refuge in union true to cling to
My God, my Rock eternal
With my inner thoughts most personal
In You I take my refuge
My Fortress, in You I place my trust
My Hiding Place, in Your faithfulness,
Your deliverance, I am in oneness safe
From this toxic pestilence of spiritual death
Our God shields us in the cover of His Presence
Our hearts to Him
Pour these out to Him
Our present Help in trouble, O people
The Word of our Refuge proves true
As does His love: steadfast, wondrous
He will enable us; in Him we can flourish.
